Description

Within Vehicle Engineering / Architectures & Structures group, this role has responsibility for project technical leadership from initial enquiry through to project delivery.

 

The aim is to develop our capability in the conception and delivery of early-stage products as well as supporting more mature programmes, embracing design in the virtual domain, requirements capture, simulation, validation and physical entity creation.

 

Key focus on chassis systems and Electrified powertrain integration for new and emerging disruptive technology companies. It will draw on the existing expertise in the Attribute Engineering, Functional Safety and Systems Engineering, Energy Efficiency, Defence and Project Management teams with resources being provided in support.

 

The role requires an experienced whole vehicle engineer with a deep understanding of complex automotive projects. The creation, planning, and execution of complex project plans at a whole vehicle level for attribute delivery, and their optimal integration with all other vehicle system CoC’s.

 

As a Chief Engineer you will be responsible for all aspects of technical delivery into projects for a wide range of customers, projects, and products. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical direction is aligned with customer expectations, budgets and timing taking these into account whilst driving the technical direction and decisions.

 

Acting as the main interface between the customer and MIRA you’ll be required to provide direction, decisions and support customer and internal technical reviews / gateway milestones ensuring data is at the correct maturity level, presenting progress, shortfalls, risks and mitigations. There will be a high level of dependence to utilise sound engineering judgement / experience and best practice to cover gaps in information and make informed assumptions.

 

You will utilise a systems engineering approach within the V Model development cycle to ensure projects are delivered to the final product intent and vision, supplying oversight and direction for the in house and customer SME’s to work to transitioning concepts from the virtual world into the physical, validated at all stages through the use of advanced simulation and physical testing.

  • Familiarity with both Automotive and Military standards, terminology, development lifecycles and expectations is a bonus.
  • Ability to use CAD (Catia V5 / V6) and Simulation tools (ADAMS, Altair, MATLAB) would be beneficial.
  • Confident enough to step beyond the comfort zone, rapidly learn new topics to a point they can challenge them and push the limits.
  • Practical Approach – in all aspects, from guidance and tutoring to rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in whether that be in the workshop or delivering engineering evidence and documents.
  • Have Full Vehicle / Programme Experience having operated with and @ V model level for full vehicle and or System level programmes.
  • Be a Truly innovative thinker with an Integration approach mentality / a High-level problem solver.
  • The ability to confidently command the appropriate level gravitas both internally and externally.
