Description

Due to strong growth within the driven attributes team we require an experienced technician.

The Performance and Durability Technician will be responsible for:

Contributing to delivery of projects in the P&D attribute team and to take ownership of specific non-project activities as required.

To work as part of a multi-disciplined team contributing as necessary to whole vehicle performance, durability, driveability, fuel economy and corrosion testing, vehicle evaluation and vehicle fitting. 

Application of thorough knowledge of passenger and commercial vehicles. 

Contribute to the expansion of the Performance & Durability team through support of strategies and processes championed by Team Leader or other department leads.

The key functions of the role will include:

·         Support specialist test projects including performance/high speed, durability and corrosion.

·         Support workshop activities

·         Manage own time to deliver workshop activity to deadlines

·         Responsibility for workshop housekeeping and health and safety

·         Liaise with drivers and project engineers

·         Solve vehicle and equipment technical issues effectively and efficiently

·         Liaise with project customers when required

·         Work effectively with other function teams as necessary including RLD, Dynamics, Braking and NVH 

This role will be based at the Nuneaton, UK site and will involve foreign travel; approximately 1 to 2 trips per year.

Most of the work will take place on MIRA’s proving ground, but occasionally also at other proving grounds and public roads in different territories.

Experience
  • HGV, off-highway & defence vehicle test experience
  • Knowledge of vehicle CAN systems
  • Specific testing experience of whole vehicle performance, durability & corrosion
  • High level knowledge of Road Load Data (RLD) methods & application
  • Whole vehicle or system level test experience
  • Working within test procedures/verification methods
  • Direct customer liaison experience, proven record of delivering test activities and working to deadlines.
Skills
  •          General and practical understanding of vehicle systems
  •          Ability to diagnose vehicle faults and rectify
  •         General fabrication and welding skills – ability to fabricate test fixtures
  •          Ability to work with high voltage vehicles safely
  •         Ability to support and mentor apprentice technicians
  •          Test vehicle set measurement activity
  •          Good working knowledge of MS office

 

Qualifications

·         Clean driving license

·         Level 3 or equivalent vehicle technician qualification

·         HGV licence Class 1 & 2
