Description

The Test Support Services team are looking for an Instrumentation Calibration Technician to join their busy team at HORIBA MIRA. This role would be ideal for a recent school leaver or someone who has an interest in this field. Training will be provided in all aspects of this role.

HORIBA MIRA is a global provider of pioneering engineering, research and test services to the automotive, defence, aerospace and rail sectors. We work in close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and suppliers around the world, providing comprehensive support ranging from individual product tests to turnkey engineering design, development and build programmes.

The key function of this role is to perform multi-disciplinary instrument calibration without supervision to approved procedures.

As part the role; it will include but not limit to:

  • Perform multi-disciplinary instrument calibration without supervision to approved procedures.
  • Maintain proper calibration records.
  • Work as a team with other Calibration Centre Staff,
  • Maintain laboratory systems for calibration equipment storage.
  • Use computer databases for equipment management.
  • Quickly learn the use of new reference equipment & methods.
  • Component level changes to instruments including the installation of surface mount devices.
  • Planning and execution of instrument calibration on client sites including client liaison.
  • Preparation of technical calibration reports for clients.
  • Use computer based systems for the processing of calibration data.
  • Ensure all reference standards and calibration equipment are maintained and used in a suitable manner.
Experience

Essential Experience for this role includes;

  • Experience of multi-parameter instrument calibration.

Preferred Experience for this role includes;

  • 2 years in a similar role within a multi-disciplinary UKAS Calibration laboratory.
Skills

 Essential skills for this role include ;

  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Be able to use software packages to perform instrument calibrations which will include following instructions and data collection after a period of training. 
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good timekeeping is essential for this role.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • An eye for detail as accuracy is essential for this role.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications for this role include ;

  • GCSE Grade 5 to 9 (C to A*) in Maths and English

Preferred Qualifications for this role include ;

  • Level 3 qualification in Electronic Engineering
  • Measurement NVQ Level 3
Other information
  • Some shift working may be required following a period of training.
  • Some working at other UK MIRA Sites.
  • 6 months contract
  • On site working in Nuneaton
  • 39 hours p/wk - Mon‐Thurs 08:00‐16:30 (30min lunch). Fri 08:00‐15:30 (30min lunch)
