Purpose:
- Technical delivery of a range of test projects involving Military and Automotive electrical systems, including planning and execution of complex power systems testing at a vehicle level.
- Co-ordinate the setup and day-to-day running of test programs to DefStan 61-5, ISO16750 and other related standards.
- Generation and interpretation of complex vehicle test plans to support DefStan 61-5 & ISO16750 with consideration for signal injection and data acquisition limitations/challenges.
- Co-ordinate the generation of customer reports.
Main Functions:
- Technical lead responsibility for complex project delivery.
- Understand and interpret modern vehicle architectures and 2 wire system diagrams to define measurement points across the vehicle platform systems.
- Write and interpret complex power system Detailed Trials Specifications and associated Test Plans.
- Define, install, and operate power testing equipment for complex test setups, such as Transient generators, LISN’s, Load banks, DVM’s and current measurement devices.
- Set up and monitor communications interfaces for networks using CAN, Serial, Flexray and other vehicle-based protocols as required.
- Configure and monitor data acquisition systems associated with each type of test with a view to automate logging systems.
- Understand signal inputs and outputs, identify anomalies, and interpret results to determine pass/fail criteria.
- Generate safe systems of work and risk assessments for the safe running day-to-day activities.
Other Functions:
- Assist in the development of proposals and support discussions with customers to generate new business.
- Support in the competency assessments and training of junior team members.
