Description

Within Vehicle Engineering / Architectures & Structures, this role has responsibility for component and system supplier management for primarily chassis based projects.

 

Working hand in hand with the design team, suppliers and End Customer this role is responsible for the realisation of hardware from concepts through to prototype and into volume production.

 

Key focus on chassis systems and EV powertrain integration for new and emerging disruptive technology companies. It will draw on the existing expertise in the Attribute Engineering, Functional Safety and Systems Engineering, Energy Efficiency, Defence and Project Management teams with resources being provided in support.

 

The role requires an experienced whole vehicle engineer with a deep understanding of complex automotive procurement projects.

 

As the Technical Supplier Support Engineer, you will be responsible for all the technical aspects of suppliers delivery into projects for a wide range of customers. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical direction is aligned with customer expectations, budgets and timing taking these into account whilst working with both the designers and the suppliers to source suitable parts.

 

Acting as the main interface between the customer, MIRA and the suppliers you’ll be required to provide direction, decisions and support ensuring that parts are available for the required MRD’s and that all technical reviews / gateway milestones and Engineering Releases are met. Ensuring data is at the correct maturity level, presenting progress, shortfalls, risks and mitigations. There will be a high level of dependence to utilise sound engineering judgement / experience and best practice to cover gaps in information and make informed assumptions.

  • Familiarity with both Automotive and Military standards, terminology, development lifecycles and expectations is a bonus.
  • Ability to use CAD (Catia V5 / V6) and Simulation tools (ADAMS, Altair, MATLAB) would be beneficial.
Qualifications
  • Degree or suitable experience in Engineering related industry
  • Quality Systems management - preferred
