As the successful candidate you will be mainly responsible for performing EMC testing on a wide variety of military applications in accordance with DEF STAN 59-411 and MIL-STD-461 test standards and associated OEM test specifications.

Working within the Vehicle Delivery Team you will ensure tests are delivered to schedule and to Horiba-Mira quality standards.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Testing of a variety of military platforms in EMC vehicle laboratories
  • Detailed reviews of test specifications and test plans (prior to and during test)
  • Executing the tests in accordance with Horiba-MIRA procedures
  • Maintain detailed and accurate log books, test records and photographs
  • Perform quality checks and data analysis on test deliverables
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills
  • Have the ability to meet deadlines in order to meet customer requirements
  • To function effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Understanding of H,S & E / Risk Assessment requirements
  • Self-motivated with the ability to train others
  • Deliver all work in accordance with UKAS / ISO 17025 / relevant standards
  • Support double or triple shift rotas (where required)

Please note; this role attracts a 22.6% shift premium

Experience

Essential experience for this role would include:

  • Electrical engineering background
  • Familiar with use of various test equipment
    • oscilloscopes
    • voltmeters
    • signal generators
    • RF receivers

Preferred experience for this role would include:

  • Automotive / Military electrical background 
  • EMC / RF Experience
  • Shift Working 
  • Vehicle electrical architecture / CAN familiarity
Skills

Essential skills for this role would include:

  • Good communication/interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate

Other

  • Shift work is a prerequisite
  • Full driving licence prerequisite
  • Military clearance will be required
  • Training provided

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

BB2 Test Technician

  • ONC, NVQ3 or Apprenticeship (Level 3)

BB3 Test Technician

  • HNC (Level 4)

Preferred Qualifications

BB2 Test Technician

  • HNC (level 4)

BB3 Test Technician

  • HNC/D electrical & electronic discipline (Level 5)
